There are 39 deluxe saloons and 2 super-deluxe saloons on the palace on wheels train and they are allocated to Single and Double occupancies. The number of passengers really depends on the occupancies sold in that departure, The train can accommodate 80 passager on any fully-booked tour.
The Cabins in Palace on Wheels
The suites in Palace on wheels have been named after the two precious stones, Emerald and Diamond. The saloons have been designed with channel music system and there is a special safe in all the saloons to store your valuables. The saloons have been created in three different themes in hues of exquisite jewels, Ruby, Sapphire and Pearl.

Days and Nights:8 days and 7 nights

Day 1 - Wednesday - New Delhi
Guests will be reaching at the Delhi’s Safdarjung Railway Station around 4:00 pm. They will be given a warm welcome in a traditional Indian style. They will be escorted to their respective luxurious cabins where they will make relax themselves and be comfortable. The first leg of the journey will start towards Jaipur. Dinner will be served on board with overnight stay.
Day 2 – Thursday – Jaipur
Next day, early morning guests will be reaching Jaipur which is one of the well planned historical cities of the world of its time. It is the capital of Rajasthan and is also known as the Pink City which was founded by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II in 1727 A.D. After breakfast guests will proceed towards Hawa Mahal which is also known as Palace of Winds. It is a five-story building on the main street of the old city in pink splendor with semi-octagonal and delicate honey-combed sandstone windows. Later the guests will be visiting the Amber Fort situated at a height. An elephant ride will be available to climb up the distance.
Return back to the train where dinner will be served and overnight stay.
Day 3 – Friday – SawaiMadhopur and Chittorgarh
As the journey continues to its 3rd day, guests will be arriving at Sawai Madhopur. Breakfast will be served on board and later they will be visiting Ranthambore National Park. They will be enjoying the jungle safari where they will be coming across and watching more than 300 species of birds and more particularly the tigers, hyena, jackal, and fox which constitutes the carnivorous population here. Ranthambore National Park is mainly famous for its tigers which can be sighted during the months November to May. Later, return to the Palace on Wheels and proceed with the journey towards Chittorgarh. In the evening guests will reach Chittorgarh. They will be visiting the Chittorgarh Fort which still revives the stories of Rajputana valour. Evening tea accompanied by a beautiful light & sound show will be arranged at the Fort.
Return back to the train for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4 – Saturday – Udaipur
Breakfast will be served to the guests in the morning. Palace on Wheels has now reached Udaipur. This city was founded by Maharana Udai Singh of Mewar. Guests will be visiting the two most famous and beautiful sites of Udaipur i.e., the Jag Niwas (Lake Palace) and the Jag Mandir, which appear to rise from the blue waters of Lake Pichhola. Later in the afternoon guests will have their lunch at a Five Star Hotel and proceed towards the floating beauty of the City Palace.
Return back to the train where dinner will be served and overnight stay.
Day 5 – Sunday – Jaisalmer
Guests will reach Jaisalmer early morning and breakfast will be served on board. They will be visiting Jaisalmer Fort which is an UNESCO World Heritage Site. The fort is entered through a forbidding series of massive gates leading to a large courtyard. In the evening they will also be visiting the Thar Desert for Camel joy ride & sunset photo shoot opportunity. Later enjoy cultural program & dinner at a 5-star hotel.
Return back to the Palace on Wheels for overnight stay.
Day 6 – Monday – Jodhpur
Next morning the Palace-on-Wheels will be in Jodhpur, a city ringed by a high stone wall with seven gates and several bastions. It is the second-largest city of Rajasthan, founded by Rao Jodha in 1459 A.D. which is also known for its rock-solid Mehrangarh Fort. Here guests will be visiting the grand palaces such as -Moti Mahal, Sheesh Mahal, Phool Mahal, Sileh Khana and Daulat Khana which are impressive examples of architectural excellence. Later in the afternoon after lunch at the Palace hotel, return to the Palace-on-Wheels. Guests can rest and in the evening get ready for onboard dinner. Overnight stay on board.
Day 7 – Tuesday – Bharatpur / Agra
Bharatpur
In the morning, the Palace on Wheels arrives at Bharatpur, the capital of Maharaja Suraj Mal. After breakfast, pay a visit to the world-famous bird sanctuary, Keoladeo Ghana National Park, the nesting place for thousands of Egrets, Siberian Cranes, migratory Water Fowl and other species of birds. Return to the train, the journey proceeds towards Agra.
Agra
Upon arrival at Agra, visit the Agra Fort and after lunch arrives at the Taj Mahal which is one of the Seven Wonders of the World. A pristine monument of undying love. It was built by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved queen Mumtaz Mahal. Agra is known for its splendid marble inlay work like the Pietra Dura work on the Taj, leather goods and jewelry. Return back to Palace on Wheels where dinner will be served on overnight stay.
Day 8 – Wednesday – Delhi
In the morning guests have now arrived at Delhi’s Safdarjung Railway station. Breakfast will be served and all the check-out formalities will be done. Journey comes to an end here.

• Remaining 50% of ticket value 60 days prior to departure.

Cancellation Policy
Cancellation must be advised by Fax/E-mail/Letter to The Luxury Trains. On cancellation, refund will be made. Certain amount of the ticket value will be deducted as follows.
In case of FITs
• 5% of ticket value 60 days or more prior to departure.
• 20% of ticket value between 59 to 30 days prior to departure.
• 100% of ticket value between less than 30 days prior to departure.
In case of Group
• 10% of ticket value 60 days prior to departure.
• 100% of ticket value between 0 to 59 days prior to departure.

Are there different types of rooms available in Palace on Wheels (Suites, Deluxe rooms, etc.)?
All the rooms on the Palace on Wheels are the same size and have attached bathrooms/toilets. Except if you choose Suite Room, which is 02 no. Passengers in one room do not have to share their bathrooms with anyone else. The interior decor changes in the coaches but as far as the rooms are concerned, all Single, Double rooms, they are of the same size.
What are acceptable modes of payment in Palace on Wheels ?
In Palace on wheels, they welcome Visa, MasterCard, and American Express, Discover cards. They can provide wire transfer details if you would like to send the payment by bank transfer in Advance.
Do palace on wheels charges anything extra for credit card processing?
No they don’t charge anything extra.
How soon should I book palace on wheels ?
Our recommendation is to book a palace on wheels as soon as you have an idea of when you would be traveling. Lately, the rooms for peak season get sold out 8-10 months before departure. It will be in your best interest to book early to avoid disappointment later.

Can palace on wheels be chartered?
The luxury train Palace on Wheels can be chartered by booking all the 52 cabins on a particular tour departure. The charter can be booked on the existing itinerary. Any diversion outside the Rajasthan is permissible only after prior approval of Indian Railways. This invites an extra payment of 20% of the charter value. Charter can also be booked in advance during Christmas and New Year period subject to 100% advance deposit with additional 10% of the tariff at the time of booking during season.
Is there any special arrangement for disabled travelers on palace on wheels ?
For disabled travelers, special assistance is available onboard the Palace on Wheels in the form of wheelchairs, crèches and a special attendant for assistance.
