Punjab is situated in the northern parts of the India and it is bordered by the states like Jammu & Kashmir to North, Himachal Pradesh to East, Haryana to Southeast and Rajasthan to Southwest. It is also marked as the 20th largest state by the area. Official language of the state is Punjabi, and it is spoken widely by the people.

The state is agriculture based due to the presence of rich water sources and fertile soils. Scientific instruments, agricultural goods, electrical goods, financial services, machine tools, textiles, sewing machines, sports goods, starch, tourism, fertilizers, bicycles, garments, and the processing of pine oil and sugar are some of the major industries included in manufacturing in Punjab. Largest number of steel rollling mill plants in India are also available there which are in "Steel Town"—Mandi Gobindgarh in the Fatehgarh Sahib district.

Mid May and June are the months recorded as the maximum temperature and it remains above 40 °C (104 °F) in the entire region during this period. It also experiences the minimum temperature from December to February. The lowest temperature is recorded as 0.2 °C (32.4 °F).

Punjab’s culture is very famous. Essentials including music such as Bhangra, an widespread religious and non-religious dance tradition, a long history of poetry in the Punjabi language, a significant Punjabi film industry that dates back to before Partition. Punjabi cuisine has a diverse range of dishes. Home cooked and restaurant cuisine occasionally vary in taste. Restaurant style uses substantial amounts of ghee. Some food items are eaten daily while some delicacies are cooked only on special occasions. There are many regional dishes that are famous in some regions only such as sarson da saag, Tandoori chicken, Shami kebab, makki di roti, etc.

Travel in Punjab centres around the historic palaces, battle sites, and the great Sikh architecture of the state and the surrounding region.
